Government

The Oneidas have approximately 1,000 enrolled Members, about half of whom live in Central New York. Each clan chooses representatives for the Oneida’s governing body known as the Council. According to tradition, male council members are responsible for daily decisions while Clan Mothers make long-term decisions. Tradition also requires Nation leaders and Members to consider the impact on the next seven generations when making decisions.

The Oneidas are headed by a federally recognized Representative – Ray Halbritter (Wolf Clan).

The Oneida Nation Council Members are:

Beulah Green, Clan Mother
Dale Rood

Wolf Clan
