Oneida Nation Adds Two Attorneys from Top Firms to Legal Department - 4/23/10

Attorneys Melinda M. Lothes and Steven Huntzinger have joined the Oneida Nation’s Legal Department. The attorneys in the Nation’s Legal Department are responsible for protecting and representing the legal interests of the Nation’s government and business enterprises, including Turning Stone Resort and Casino and SāvOn convenience stores.

Lothes comes to the Oneida Nation from the Cleveland office of Baker & Hostetler, LLP, a prestigious national law firm. As an associate and staff attorney for that firm, she worked on business and intellectual property matters, including corporate transactions, license agreements concerning trademarks, software and copyrights, as well as acquisitions and dispositions of business entities. Lothes graduated magna cum laude from Case Western Reserve University School of Law in Cleveland where she was a contributing editor for the Law Review. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Rochester.

Before joining the Oneida Nation’s Legal Department, Huntzinger was an Associate in the New York City office of Debevoise & Plimpton LLP, a top international law firm. In that capacity, he represented banks, corporate clients and private equity funds in complex financial matters, including bank and bond financings, as well as credit and security agreements. Huntzinger served as law clerk for U.S. District Court Judge Lawrence E. Kahn where he was involved with extensive research on a host of issues pertaining to federal procedural and substantive law. He graduated summa cum laude from the Benjamin N. Cardoza School of Law in New York City and received his bachelor’s degree from State University of New York at Geneseo. -30-

  • Nation Honors Employees with 10-15-20 Years of Service

    Oneida Indian Nation employees with 10, 15 and 20 years of service were recognized at a Sept. 1 dinner. The Nation employment is now at about 4,800 and includes employees from both the government and business enterprises, including Turning Stone Resort and Casino. The Nation is the largest employer in Oneida and Madison counties, and the fourth largest employer in the16 counties of greater Central New York. This year, 154 employees reached the various career milestones.
