JANUARY 2009 - GP&S offices closed January 1 and 19.

2 Monthly dinner and social, 6 p.m.– 10 p.m. in the Cookhouse and Council House.

3 KYC Karate program begins. Held Saturdays from 1 p.m. -2 p.m.in the gym through 2/7. Open to all school age students. $25 uniform cost per child.

Open basketball, 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. in the Nation gym. Continues every Saturday through March 28.

4 Open basketball, 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. in the gym. Continues every Sunday through March 29.

5 Adult badminton league in the gym, 12:20 p.m.- 12:45 p.m. Every Monday through Feb. 23.

Family Night in the Rec. Center for grades 3-12 and their families. Guitar Hero, billiards and ping pong.

6 Circuit Training classes with Linda Sevier, 12 p.m.

Playtime program in the gym and Rec. Center, 5 p.m.– 6 p.m. for ages 3-5. Every Tuesday in Jan.

Adult basketball league in the gym. Games played Tuesdays at 6 p.m., 7 p.m., and 8 p.m.

Youth Ambassadors meeting, 6 p.m.– 7 p.m. in the Rec. Center. Open to grades 7-12. Continues every Tuesday.

7 Adult badminton league, 12:20 p.m.-12:45 p.m. Every Wednesday through Feb. 25.

8 Circuit Training classes with Linda Sevier, 5 p.m.

Wii bowling league begins. Open to grades 3-12 and one adult, 6 p.m.-8 p.m. in the Rec. Center. Continues every Thursday in Jan.

14 Social and pizza, 6 p.m.– 8 p.m. in the Council House.

16 Intertribal dance in the gym from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. on 1/17. Open to students in grades 7-12.

17 Children’s Choir meeting and first rehearsal, 2 p.m. at Shako:wi Cultural Center. Open to enrolled Nation Members 6-12 years old.

20 Blood drive in the Mohawk Room of Turning Stone Conference Center, 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Open to the public.

23 Youth Ambassador’s talent show and fundraiser, 6 p.m.-8:30 p.m. in the Rec. Center. Performers of all ages invited to try out.

27 Diabetes Self-Management Support Group, 5 p.m. - 6 p.m. in the Elders Center Community Room.

    The 4,777 employees of the Oneida Indian Nation collectively paid nearly $25 million in federal income tax, social security and state income taxes. On top of what the employees paid, the Nation paid nearly $9 million to Social Security to cover its portion for employees. In addition, the Nation paid more than $825,000 for life and disability insurance premiums and contributed more than $4.6 million to employee 401K plans. Read more »
