See also: Education and Cultural Outreach Program The Shako:wi Cultural Center, named after former Nation Representative Richard Chrisjohn (Wolf Clan) whose Oneida name means “He Gives,” offers visitors an in depth look at the Oneida Nation. • Learn first-hand about the Oneidas as first allies of the colonists during the American Revolutionary War • View authentic Oneida arts and crafts: basketry, beadwork, dolls, rattles, and wampum. Housed in a handcrafted white pine log building on Nation lands, Shako:wi is filled with items and stories from the rich past and present of the Oneida People. Shako:wi is open 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday, except for holidays including American Indian Day (Friday before Labor Day). Group tours available. Admission is free.
