This treaty between New York and the Oneidas changed the descriptions of Oneida lands.
Known as the 1788 New York State Oneida Treaty at Fort Stanwix, the terms of this document forced land cession as New York took the greater part of Oneida Territory.
The Oneida viewed the treaty as a 21-year lease.
