Celebrating Mother Earth

The 16th annual Kids’ Day celebration was held on Tuesday, June 30, in the Ray Elm Children and Elders Center.

Sponsored by the Oneida Nation Government Programs and Services, Kids’ Day centers around a theme -- this year’s being “Bee Kind to Mother Earth.” Several activities and stations were set up and carried a variation of the theme such as Bee Aware, Bee Happy, Bee Active and Bee Healthy.

“Our main audience is children, but the goal is to have parents or adult caregivers attend the event with their children,” Pat Catalano said. “The goal is to learn and to have fun at the same time.”

The event was open to Nation Members, Oneida Nation health center clients up to the age of 16, and to students enrolled in the Early Learning Center. Approximately 100 children attended the event.

As part of the celebration Masters of Karate held a demonstration which featured Aliyah Frederick (Turtle Clan) and Ryan Rizzo (Wolf Clan). Click here for more.
