Troiani Prints Available

Prints of historical artist Don Troiani’s painting “Oneidas at the Battle of Oriskany” are now available.

The print, which is not framed, measures approximately 33-inches wide by 24-inches high (the image itself is 29-inches by 18-inches high). Art enthusiasts can purchase the print for $225. Authorized galleries with proper paperwork can contact the Oneida Nation for wholesale pricing. The print is discounted for Oneida Indian Nation Members. Shipping and handling is not included in price.

Troiani’s work centers on Han Yerry, who is depicted taking a musket from his wife, Two Kettles Together, who had loaded her injured husband’s rifle. Han Yerry’s son is pictured in the background fighting off enemy loyalists. The original 5-foot by 7-foot painting was commissioned by the Oneida Indian Nation.

When interviewed about the piece Troiani said he found the Oriskany story interesting. “There were Indians on both sides and no British except the Hessians (mercenaries who fought for the British). It was only Loyalists, who were Americans, and the colonists. So it was American against American and Native American against Native American. It is quite unusual.”

The original piece took Troiani three and one half months to complete. Troiani, who has done a great deal of study on the Revolutionary War, knew of the Oneidas’ involvement in the Battle of Oriskany, but – before accepting the commission – knew nothing about Han Yerry and his wife, Two Kettles Together.

All prints are shipped flat and each is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
