Jim Teske, meteorologist for NewsChannel 9, WSYR, Syracuse, addresses the students at the Ray Elm Children and Elder's Center. The Weather Outside…Children Learn Basics from Local Meteorologist
Clouds, sun, rain or snow… those are just some of the things meteorologist Jim Teske looks at on a daily basis.
And, in Central New York, this time of year keeps him very busy. Teske, a member of the WSYR NewsChannel 9 staff (Syracuse), has forecasted the highs and lows of Central New York weather for 15 years. He recently took time out of his schedule to visit with students at the Ray Elm Children and Elder’s Center. The students had just wrapped up a session on weather and had learned the basics about the seasons and forecasting. Teske, who grew up in East Syracuse, is part of WSYR’s Storm Team Academy. His forecasts are certified by the American Meteorological Society. He handles the weekend forecasts.
