Annual Night Brings Staff, Families Together

The Early Learning Center held its annual Family Fun Night Thursday, Feb. 18, in the Elders' Dining Room. The event gives families a chance to mingle with ELC staff outside of the classroom setting.

Located in the Ray Elm Children and Elders Center, the ELC program is designed for children six weeks to 12 years old. Children of Members and other American Indians, as well as children of Nation employees are eligible. The ELC is open year-round, and offers full and part time enrollment options.

The Early Learning Center provides a safe, nurturing, developmentally appropriate program of hands on learning, in a child-centered environment. ELC teachers facilitate children’s learning by encouraging them to ask questions and discover alternative answers, in order to become competent, independent thinkers and problem solvers.

ELC teaching and administrative staff receive continuous training in Early Child Education and possess degrees or certificates in ECE or related fields. All full-time ELC staff are trained in first aide and CPR.

The ELC offers a safe and nurturing environment and has instituted several security procedures to ensure the safety of each child.

The ELC is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children, the nation's largest organization of early childhood educators.
