David Balfe, SāvOn operations manager, takes a pie to the face courtesy of Phil White. And Then, There was Pie
It was a managers' meeting like no other.
At the close of the monthly managers’ meeting in September David Balfe, SāvOn operations manager, and Sean Brown, director of SāvOn operations, got pie in the face. Yes, they were, ahem, “pie-d.” But, unlike media mogul Rupert Murdock’s run in with a foam version early this summer, this incident was all in good fun. From June 27 to July 31, SāvOn stores ran the “Make a Muscle” card campaign for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Store managers were told that the store that raised more than $3,000 could get to pie David and Sean. And raise money they did! “The winning store was the Patrick Road and Route 31 location in Verona and the manager is Phil White,” David, who had to free himself from the lemon meringue in his goatee, said. ”They raised $4,477. In total we raised $13,174.” “We would like to say thank you to all the SāvOn crews and customers for all of the hard work and dedication to this worthy charity,” he added. “You have given us the ability to help with the research and fun camp experiences for children affected by these terrible diseases.” Sean, who was presented with strawberry rhubarb, echoed David’s statement directly thanking managers for their assistance. The SāvOn stores have long raised funds for the MDA. The next event will be the annual Shamrocks Against Dystrophy®, the St. Patrick’s Day fundraiser.
