Job Fair Success

Rome’s Lester Henderson was looking for a position with more consistent hours.

Utica’s Mikayla Alati was looking for a chance to put her customer services skills to the test with a job that provided one-on-one contact.

Both applicants had their wishes fulfilled after attending Oneida Indian Nation’s Turning Stone Resort and Casino’s Job Fair on June 6. On-the-spot interviews were held and approximately 90 positions -- from servers to concession attendant -- were filled during the event which ran from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Both Lester and Mikayla learned by the end of the day that they would be joining the team member ranks.

“It’s a good opportunity to progress in this area (of food and beverage),” Lester said after being hired as part of the room service team. “They let me know about the 401K and all the benefits from that area.”

“I love working with people. I enjoy customer service and being on the phone isn’t really as satisfying as being with someone face to face,” Mikayla, who landed a job as a concession attendant, said. “It actually means a lot to me because I wasn’t currently employed so now I have the opportunity to show them what I can do, and have the opportunity to make people happy.”
