Tennis Anyone?

Love is in the air...

The youngest members of the Oneida Nation’s Youth Work Learn program had myriad jobs over their six-week session. Painting, weeding, digging and- … playing tennis. Yes, tennis.

Their efforts to keep the ball in the air were recognized by Wilson, the premier purveyor of tennis and other sports equipment. Racquets and T-shirts were presented to each youngster in the group through a grant offered by Wilson.

“This year’s tennis lessons included fitness and nutritional components,” said Jason Stokes, tennis pro at the Oneida Nation’s Turning Stone Sportsplex, who taught the group of eight 13- and 14- year-olds. “In their six-weeks of lessons, they made great improvements. Some are considering taking up tennis as a high school sport.”

Score.
