Quarterly Check Presented to Verona FD

Chuck Fougnier, Wolf Representative on the Oneida Nation Council, and Terry Winslow (left), public safety commissioner for the Oneida Nation presented a quarterly check of $25,000 to Fire District Commissioner Bob Deep (right) at the Verona Fire Department. Since 1993, Verona Fire District (VFD) has received more than $1.1 million from the Nation. Under the service agreement, VFD provides fire protection and rescue services to Turning Stone Resort and other Nation properties in the district in conjunction with the Oneida Nation’s Public Safety Department. Oneida Nation Presents Another $1 Million Installment to NMAI

Members of the Oneida Nation Council were recently in Washington, D.C. to make another $1 million installment to the Smithsonian Institute’s National Museum of the American Indian (NMAI). Eight years ago, the Nation pledged $10 million--to be given over ten years. The Nation’s exhibit at NMAI, ''Allies in War, Partners in Peace,'' is a bronze statue that sits on the fourth floor of the museum and depicts the friendship forged during the Revolutionary War between the Oneida Nation and the United States.   • Nation Honors Employees with 10-15-20 Years of Service

    Oneida Indian Nation employees with 10, 15 and 20 years of service were recognized at a Sept. 1 dinner. The Nation employment is now at about 4,800 and includes employees from both the government and business enterprises, including Turning Stone Resort and Casino. The Nation is the largest employer in Oneida and Madison counties, and the fourth largest employer in the16 counties of greater Central New York. This year, 154 employees reached the various career milestones.
