Oneidas Contribute To Hurricane Recovery

In wake of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, the Oneida Indian Nation sprung into action. With heavy hearts the Nation sent the people of Louisiana its condolences and support. The Oneida Nation:

•Approved a $1,000 donation to the American Red Cross Hurricane Katrina Disaster Relief fund.
•Through its SāvOn enterprises employees and guests raised nearly $6,000 in funds for disaster relief.
•The National Indian Gaming Association (NIGA), of which the Oneida Nation is a member, announced a plan to raise money for the Hurricane relief fund. NIGA contributed $5,000 to begin the effort and called upon all tribes to meet a $1 million goal for the relief fund.
•The Restaurants at Turning Stone joined several participating restaurants in a point-of-sale campaign for the American Red Cross. The combined effort raised $10,000.
