An overflow crowd of nearly 400 veterans and their families filled the Shenendoah Club House on Saturday, Nov. 8th for the Nation’s annual Veteran’s Recognition Ceremony.
Guest speaker Chris Noel, known for her popular Vietnam War era Armed Forces Radio Show “A Date With Chris,” shared some of her personal memories and performed her song “Forgotten Man.” She wrote the song to bring awareness to the plight of the forgotten war veterans in the post Vietnam War era. Attendees also were told of the success of the new Gregory Harris Military Courtesy Room at Hancock Airport. The organizers and volunteers were recognized and presented with an additional contribution of $2,000 from the Oneida Nation Foundation to support the ongoing operation of the well received volunteer effort. |
