Oneida Nation Foundation Gives to Children and Youth Focused Agencies

Five area charitable organizations that conduct children's projects and programs got a boost of funding at the holiday season to continue their positive efforts, thanks to grants from the Oneida Nation Foundation.
Foundation Chairman Chuck Fougnier noted that at holiday time, children's issues and needs often come into sharper focus, and for that reason, the Foundation selected five deserving organizations for $1,000 grants apiece. The $1,000 grants will help organizations which sometimes must rely on small amounts of funding assistance to continue their programming with some vigor, Foungier said.
The five groups awarded Oneida Nation Foundation grants include three from the Utica-Rome area, one from the Syracuse region, and one from the City of Oneida:
  • The Mohawk Valley Frontiers, of Utica-Rome; a group focused on minority youth and career and character development;
  • The YWCA of the Mohawk Valley, for children's programming in a variety of areas;
  • The Oneida Police Benevolent Association, to boost funds available for the association's ''Shop with a Cop'' toy and gift program to benefit needy families;
  • Leatherstocking Ballet Inc. of the Mohawk Valley, to assist with its annual performing costs;
  • The Make a Wish Foundation of Syracuse, an organization that provides ''wishes'' to children suffering from illnesses.
