Oneida Indian Nation Members participated in events marking the 240th anniversary of the Battle of Oriskany on Aug. 6. The Fort Stanwix National Monument and the Oriskany Battlefield State Historic Site hosted events throughout the weekend culminating in a solemn commemoration held Sunday evening to honor those who fought and sacrificed their lives in one of the bloodiest battles of the American Revolution. Oneida warriors fought beside the colonists on that day in 1777.
