History of the Oneida Indian Nation’s Turning Stone Resort Casino

July 1993: Turning Stone opens on an approximately 400-acre parcel on Nation lands in Verona (NY) 1994: A 175-site RV park is opened near the Turning Stone campus

1995: High Stakes Bingo moves from Territory Road in Oneida to Turning Stone

1995: Gaming machines are introduced at Turning Stone
1997: The Hotel at Turning Stone opens as well as five restaurants and a gaming floor expansion

1999: Turning Stone adds a conference center, a new restaurant, an 800-seat Showroom for Vegas-style entertainment, retail shops and Sandstone Hollow, an executive nine- hole golf course and purchases Pleasant Knolls Golf Course

1999: The Nation purchases lodging that becomes The Inn at Turning Stone

2000: The resort’s first 18-hole championship golf course, Shenendoah Golf Club, opens for play

2001: Turning Stone hosts a world class boxing event between Laila Ali and Jacqui Frazier, the daughters of two boxing legends

2002: Turning Stone opens the Shenendoah Clubhouse

2002: Turning Stone adds a gaming floor expansion, as well as executive office space

2003-2004: Turning Stone becomes a destination resort with a $350 million-plus expansion that adds the following: 5,000-seat Event Center; The Lodge at Turning Stone, a 95-all suite boutique hotel; the 287-room Tower Hotel; two championship, 18-hole golf courses—Atunyote Golf Club and Kaluhyat Golf Club; a 2,400-car parking garage; a Brazilian steakhouse; additional retail shops, and the expansion of the resort’s popular buffet restaurant

2005: Indoor golf training facility opens

2006: Skana, a destination spa featuring American Indian treatments, as well as an indoor pool and fitness area are added to The Lodge at Turning Stone

2007: The Lodge at Turning Stone is named “Most Excellent Resort “in North America by Conde Nast Johansens

2007: The Turning Stone Resort Championship, a PGA TOUR event, comes to the Atunyote Golf Club for a six year stint

2008: The resort opens Lava, a state-of-the-art dance club

2009: Turning Stone adds an indoor tennis, racquetball complex

2009: Turning Stone wins “Casino of the Year” award from the Academy of Country Music

2010: The Lodge at Turning Stone is named "Most Excellent Golf Resort" in the U.S.A. and Canada by Condé Nast Johansens
