TV Ad Highlights Upstate NY Empowerment Fund

A television advertisement about the Upstate New York Empowerment Fund is currently being aired. Its message, “Embracing Those In Need … For All of Us,” tells of the Oneida Indian Nation’s special philanthropic initiative to assist the region’s charitable groups in conjunction with the Turning Stone Resort Championship, a PGA TOUR® event.

In 2007, the Nation developed a unique reciprocal-benefits program called “Tickets for Charity” and offered area charitable groups the chance to participate. The program returns 100 percent of the face value for every ticket charitable organizations sell to the Turning Stone Resort Championship. The 100 percent return concept has produced almost half a million dollars for dozens of regional charities over the last two years. The charities estimate that more than 200,000 Upstate New York residents have benefited from this initiative each year, via the work of the participating community organizations.

The TV ad features Empowerment Fund Honorary Host Committee member Jim Boeheim and recipient organization executives Patricia McMahon, of Cathedral Emergency Services of Syracuse, and Angela VanDerhoof of Oneida-Lewis ARC. All address what they believe the initiative means to their groups and to the region.

The commercial features scenes from the 2008 Empowerment Fund check distribution and recognition luncheon held in November, where 99 area organizations received $228,885 in funds.

The 30-second spot was voiced by Empowerment Fund Honorary Host Committee member Maureen Green.

The ad was produced completely in-house by the staff of Four Directions Productions, an award-wining high-definition cinematography and 3D animation studio, owned and operated by Four Directions Media
