Ray Halbritter (left) and Tony Picente (right) Oneida County-Oneida Nation Agreement Discussed on “Capital Tonight”
During a nearly 20-minute, live interview that aired on Time Warner TV news stations across New York, Oneida Nation Representative and Chief Executive Officer Ray Halbritter and Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente talked about job development and moving Oneida County forward by approval of the agreement they forged. The joint appearance with host Brian Taffe was broadcast on May 20.
If the Oneida County Legislature and New York State Legislature approve the Oneida County-Oneida Nation Partnership Plan, the county would receive $55 million from the Nation and the seemingly endless litigation with the county over land and taxes would end. In addition, the Oneidas have said they would create an additional 1,000 jobs over five years—once the land goes into trust.
