Book of Lists Ranks Oneida Nation Fourth Largest Employer in Greater CNY
The Central New York Business Journal’s annual Book of Lists is out. In their ranking of the largest employers in the 16 counties of greater Central New York, the Oneida Nation, with 4,777 employees, moved up to No. 4. The other leading employers were: No. 1 - Cornell University (Ithaca), No. 2 - Upstate University Health System (Syracuse), No. 3 - United Health Services (Binghamton), and No. 5 - Syracuse University.
The Oneida Nation’s payroll in 2009 topped $124 million. In addition to its government operations, the Nation’s business enterprises include: Turning Stone Resort and Casino; 12 gas and convenience stores; Indian County Today; Four Directions Productions, a 3D animation/HD cinematography studio; and a 3,200-acre Angus beef and crop farm.
