Oneida Nation and Be The Match Hold Bone Marrow Drive for Area Teen

The Oneida Nation and BeThe Match held a bone marrow donor registration drive at the Nation to help find a suitable match for Taylor Matt, a Cazenovia high school student who is battling leukemia and is in need of a bone marrow transplant.

She is one-quarter American Indian, which makes it more difficult to find a match.

More than 75 people were tested to determine if they might be a suitable bone marrow donor for Taylor or the thousands of other patients who are currently on the waiting list.

Testing is painless, requiring only a quick swab on the inside of one’s mouth.
