Nation Event Puts Emphasis on Better Health for Employees

A healthy workforce is important to employees and their families, as well as the viability of an organization. That is why the Oneida Indian Nation holds a health fair for employees every year. This year’s event included a flu clinic where employees and members of the public had an opportunity to get a free flu shot. More than 500 flu vaccines were dispensed. The American Red Cross also conducted a blood drive open to Nation employees.

Many of the Nation’s 4,500 employees took the opportunity to check out the health fair which attracted more than 80 exhibitors including the American Diabetes Association, American Heart Association, Smile Therapy, The Center 4 Wellness, Mohawk Valley Imaging and Upstate Medical University. There were demos throughout the day including CPR, the benefits of acupuncture, fitness and strength training, cooking demos and the proper operation of fire extinguishers.
