Ron Patterson - Lacrosse stick making. Oneida Nation History and Cultural Showcase at Championship EntranceIn addition to seeing firsthand some of the best professional golf in the world, this year’s Turning Stone Resort Championship has a new feature—the Oneida Nation History and Cultural Showcase Tent. This new aspect will have a “living statue,” saluting the actual Oneida statue, ”Allies in War, Partners in Peace, ”at the Smithsonian’s Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D.C. and replicated as the trophy for our tournament. Re-enactors will portray the three personages from the statute and answer guests’ questions. Those Revolutionary War personages are Oneida Chief Shenendoah, Oneida woman Polly Cooper and General George Washington. In addition, there will be lacrosse stick-making demonstrations. The Oneidas were the first ally of the colonists during the American Revolution—fighting on the side of the colonists at such important battles as Oriskany and Saratoga, as well as delivering corn hundreds of miles to General Washington’s starving troops at Valley Forge. The schedule for the remainder of the week is as follows:
