Cavano Named Turning Stone Resort Championship Operations Manager - 3/02/10
Joe Cavano is the new tournament operations manager for The Turning Stone Resort Championship. The PGA TOUR event is scheduled for Aug. 2 – 8 at the Oneida Indian Nation’s Atunyote Golf Club.
As tournament operations manager, Cavano is responsible for the logistical planning, set-up and execution of the tournament which is making a transition from a Fall Series event to the Tour’s FedEx Cup season. Cavano began working at Turning Stone as an employment specialist in late 2005 and was promoted to human resources supervisor in 2007. He has been involved with The Turning Stone Resort Championship since its inaugural year in 2007, serving last year as a volunteer vice-chair overseeing several volunteer committees. He also played an integral role in organizing the volunteer programs for the 2006 PGA Professional National Championship and the 2006 B.C. Open. Prior to joining Turning Stone, Cavano was a golf professional at Lake of Isles Golf Resort at Foxwoods Resorts & Casino. Cavano is a graduate of Ithaca College, where he earned both a bachelor’s degree in business and an M.B.A. He resides in Rome, N.Y.
