Oneida Nation Announces Employee of the Year - 3/5/10

Ryan Langone of Rome, N.Y. was named the Oneida Nation’s Employee of the Year at a recognition dinner held March 4 in The Showroom at Turning Stone Resort. Langone was awarded a trip for two to one of the following vacation destinations: Disney World, Las Vegas or the Grand Canyon. To further demonstrate the Oneida Nation’s appreciation to its employees, the Nation provided the same prize to the runner-up; Heather Light of North Bay, a public affairs specialist in the Nation’s Media Relations office.

Langone started work at the Emerald Restaurant at Turning Stone in November 2002 and was promoted to line cook at that restaurant in May 2004. First chosen as Employee of the Month for October 2009, he has an associate’s degree in culinary arts from SUNY Cobleskill. His wife, Heather, is a supervisor at Season’s Harvest, a buffet restaurant at Turning Stone.

In nominating Langone for the award, Emerald Sous Chef Charles Loosman said, “Ryan goes above and beyond day in and day out, working multiple shifts, helping out in prep and also learning soups and sauces. He is always positive, very dependable, helpful and an asset to the restaurant.”

The Oneida Nation has a workforce of nearly 4,800 employees and an annual payroll of more than $124 million. The Nation’s business enterprises include: Turning Stone Resort and Casino; a dozen SāvOn fuel and convenience stores; two marinas; Indian Country Today, a national weekly newspaper; Four Directions Productions, a 3-D animation/HD cinematography studio; a 3,200-acre beef and crop farm; a carwash; and a fishing lodge
