Halbritter Invited to Star-Studded White House Gala Honoring Paul McCartney - 6/3/10

Ray Halbritter, Oneida Nation Representative and CEO of Nation Enterprises, was one of just 200 guests invited by the White House for a gathering last night in the East Room honoring former Beatle Paul McCartney, who was awarded the 3rd Gershwin Prize for Popular Song from the Library of Congress. Mr. Halbritter was the only American Indian leader at this special event hosted by President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama and with a guest list that included government leaders such as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, key White House staff and top celebrities Stevie Wonder, Elvis Costello and Jerry Seinfeld.

According to The White House, “The prize commemorates George and Ira Gershwin, the legendary American songwriting team whose extensive manuscript collections reside in the Library of Congress. The prize is awarded to musicians whose lifetime contributions in the field of popular song exemplify the standard of excellence associated with the Gershwins.”
