Hugh Laurie Brings His Music to Turning Stone
Laurie and the Copper Bottom Band Play the Showroom August 31
Hugh Laurie and the Copper Bottom Band come to the Turning Stone Resort Casino Showroom Friday, August 31. Laurie plays piano and performs vocals with The Copper Bottom Band.
Laurie calls music, specifically New Orleans blues, a passion that started as a child while taking piano lessons in England. The Copper Bottom Band’s 2011 debut album “Let Them Talk” is a celebration of New Orleans blues. It brings together an extraordinary selection of heritage tracks, renowned musicians, and vocal legends to champion this much-neglected body of work.
Putting his love of the blues in perspective, Laurie said, “I am a white, middle-class Englishman, openly trespassing on the music and myth of the American South. Worst of all, I’ve broken a cardinal rule of art, music, and career paths: actors are supposed to act, and musicians are supposed to music. That’s how it works. You don’t buy fish from a dentist, or ask a plumber for financial advice, so why listen to an actor’s music? The answer is – there is no answer. I love this music, as authentically as I know how.”
Laurie is a Golden Globe-winning and Emmy-nominated actor best known for his role as Dr. Gregory House in the hit FOX Network medical drama, House M.D, which recently ended its eighth and final season.
$15, $20, and $30 tickets for the Friday, August 31 performance of Hugh Laurie and the Copper Bottom Band at the Turning Stone Resort Casino Showroom go on sale Monday, July 2. Call the Turning Stone box office at (315) 361-7469 or visit www.Ticketmaster.com.
