Opened in 2017, the Oneida Heritage Center’s historic location on Route 5 in Sherrill, NY accommodates several new and exciting offerings based in Oneida culture, including an expansive store stocked with numerous, hand-made arts, crafts, jewelry and hand-carved wood work from local American Indian artisans.

Each year, thousands of tourists visit Central New York to experience the profound history linked to our region, harboring significant ties to our country’s inception and development.

The Oneida Heritage Center, managed by Ron Patterson (Wolf Clan), aims to bring that history to life. Its store features hand-made American Indian crafts, an expansive archery range – the only indoor range in Central New York, and a special military museum with numerous historical artifacts that visitors can see up close.

OFFERINGS

The Store

  • Authentic Oneida and other American Indian arts and crafts are the centerpiece of the store. Hand-crafted lacrosse sticks, pottery, baskets and jewelry are just some of the items for sale. Replica wampum belts and other Oneida beadwork are also on display.
  • Oneida Heritage’s wide selection of books and DVDs are available for the most ardent heritage history buff. Other Haudenosaunee apparel is in stock.

Warrior Archery – Shukwatli:yo:se’ 

  • A regulation-sized 12-lane archery range is available to the public to practice, or bring a group together and form a league. Manager Ron Patterson is a certified archery instructor. The store also sells archery gear to get novice archers started and service the most-experienced veteran.
  • Children can enroll in archery programs through the YMCA of the Greater Tri-Valley.

Military Museum

  • In an effort to bring the past to life and preserve the culture and history of the Oneida Indian Nation and the entire region, Oneida Heritage makes important artifacts available to the public.
  • Military guns, uniforms, costumes, cannons and a Jeep from WWII are among the items on display. Large dioramas spotlight the Revolutionary War, the War of 1812, Civil War, and World War II.
