Each clan chooses a representative to join the governing body – the Nation Council – whose members work diligently to secure strength and stability in the Nation and consider the impact of all actions for the next seven generations.

Oneida people have taken a leadership role in supporting the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of the American Indian and the Museum of the American Revolution to memorialize its rich history as America’s First Allies for future generations.
