The Oneida Indian Nation is proud to support the development of athletic opportunities that promote community wellness, youth engagement, and cultural pride. In alignment with these goals, an independent nonprofit organization is being established to manage and operate the Oneida Lacrosse Club.
This strategic decision reflects a commitment to sustainable governance, operational independence, and long-term success. With the establishment of a separate nonprofit entity, the Nation ensures that the team operates with its own clear mission, leadership structure, and financial accountability. This independence allows the organization to pursue partnerships, funding opportunities, and community engagement strategies that are tailored to the specific needs and ambitions of the team and its supporters.
While the Oneida Indian Nation currently does not directly sponsor or manage the team, it is offering substantive support through a rental agreement of the field house at the Mary C. Winder Community Center—a welcoming home environment where the team can train and compete. This partnership honors the Nation’s role as a cultural and geographic foundation for the organization, while also preserving the team’s autonomy.
This model follows a proven path of success for other Native Nations and tribal communities, where independent nonprofit entities have thrived in areas of human development, youth outreach, and community building—often growing into powerful symbols of regional pride and resilience.
The Oneida Indian Nation believes that this structure empowers the team to grow responsibly, engage a broad network of supporters, and embody the spirit and values of its people. We look forward to witnessing the development of the Oneida Lacrosse Club as a source of unity, inspiration, and achievement.
