Rec Center a Huge Asset for Nation Community

PROGRAMS

The Oneida Indian Nation’s Recreation and Youth Development Department provides diverse, year-round youth, adult and family-orientated programs. These include the successful Youth Ambassadors Program, which encourages students in grades seven and up to become active in the community and an After School Program designed to help students strengthen study skills, promote education and health, help students develop socially and build their sense of community. Sports clinics are conducted throughout the year as well. These include lacrosse, basketball, football, soccer, field hockey, boxing, wrestling, baseball and volleyball. FACILITIES

The Recreation Center houses a full-size gym with bleachers, a fitness room, an open activity area, a kitchen, offices and an equipment storage area. A softball field, lacrosse field, playground and outdoor pool are also available on-site. Offerings include after-school programs in the fall, adult basketball leagues and movie nights in the winter, as well as a six-week Summer Jam program and various other adult sports leagues. The Recreation Center is located on Territory Road in Oneida. Hours: 8 a.m. – 9 p.m., Monday through Friday, Noon – 10 p.m., Saturday, Noon – 9 p.m., Sunday. Contact: (315) 829-8484

FITNESS CENTER

The Oneida Indian Nation Recreation Department Fitness Room features recumbent bikes, treadmills, elliptical trainers, power block weights and strength training equipment, with men’s and women’s locker rooms and showers.

The Fitness Room is open to Oneida Members, children of enrolled Oneidas, Health Services clients and employees age 16 and older.

Hours: Mon. – Fri. 8 a.m. – 9 p.m., Sat. Noon – 10 p.m., Sun. Noon – 9 p.m.
